augmented reality, the toys take on it

Kid = Never ending Demand For NEW Toys! This equation holds true in all homes, however designer Frantz Lasorne has an excellent project for us that gives a second lease of life to the existing toy collection. Called Augmented Reality, the project combines the joys of virtual reality, imagination and tangible toys.  Using Augmented Reality Tangible User Interface (AR TUI) via head-mounted glasses, loads of imagination and old toys, a new environment is created that allows a child to live his fantasies.

Google Voice: Coming soon

Google Voice is a service that gives you one number for all your phones, voicemail that is easy as email, and many enhanced calling features like call blocking and screening, voicemail transcripts, call conferencing, international calls, and more.
Google Voice is currently available for GrandCentral users only, but will be open to new users soon. In the meantime, please leave us your email address and we’ll notify you as soon as Google Voice becomes available. To learn more about Google Voice, check out our feature videos.

I really really want this (I hope it doesn’t end up being a US only service). Such a neat solution. Voicemail transcripts, call recordings, call routing (you can have several phones on one number), and a web interface to keep track of it all.

I’m not a super heavy user of my phone (for calls/sms that is) but I could imagine this being like heaven for someone that does a lot of business via their phone.

See more of it at the google voice site.

Daddy Cool, Gustav Martner

From Farfar Academy

Not everything in Sweden is about Stockholm. Check into the west coast scene and you find the great interactive agency Daddy. We had a quick chat with Daddys Creative Partner and Co-Founder Gustav Martner.

Is there any fast lane to success, crazy clients, loads of money and kick ass creatives?
Yes, but only Nicke Bergström knows about it.

Go READ IT! It’s great. Big up to Linda for making the interview.

MC TXT

mc txt

Folklore, Baldi, NYC (aka Never Yet Contested) and Rick Vindaloo, with the support of technological ringmaster Paul Notzold, comprise hip hop act MC TXT. By encouraging the audience to send text messages to a large screen on stage, these mobile-minded emcees floss their freestyle skills by weaving the messages into their rhymes. The result is a uniquely interactive, jaw-droppingly seamless set that signals a new approach to live hip hop.

Interesting way to make a show more interactive.

If you ever thought of making a typeface

You’d consider this good news indeed.

Adobe Font Development Kit for OpenType package is to share the tools used by Adobe font developers for wrapping up PostScript fonts as OpenType/CFF font files, and adding OpenType layout features. These tools are used for in-house development of new Adobe OpenType fonts.

Colorful cables by LaCie

Just stumbled on these computer cables by LaCie. At the very least they’d make my cable mess a lot prettier. These kind of cables tend to be extremely boring.

Absolutely amazing footage

If you’re a camera of photo geek, you might know of Vincent Laforet. In case not, he’s a pretty cool photographer that’s ventured a bit into video. His latest project is a some surf footage. Shot with a RED ONE with an adapter for EF lenses and  a Canon 5D II. Putting a 500mm/f4 on the RED gives you aprocimatly 1600mm (field of view calculated for 35mm), pretty darn long. Also some parts are shot from a RC helicopter as well. The RED ONE delivers amazing HD footage of up to 120 fps.

Enough. Just watch the damn jawdropping thing: http://vincentlaforet.smugmug.com/gallery/6961015_exAjb/1/447303587_UUCcZ/Large or read surfermags coverage of it. Be sure to check all the videos, the behind the scenes stuff is great as well.

Nissan spoof

Excellent. The response from TBWA\Chiat\Day — Los Angeles is also pretty funny.
